Chiropractic Relieves Sports-Related Back Pain

Many people suffer from back pain, including athletes, and that can be very limiting. Chronic pain makes it harder to get the most out of your workout and can leave you on the sidelines.

A 2011 study found that chiropractic was the best way to recover from back pain for athletes.

Cold Weather Is Coming, Keep Your Balance

With the drop in temperatures and winter knocking on our door, it is important to remember that balance will be important in keeping oursleves free from falling. Being aware of the surfaces we walk on is the first step to staying fall free. Keeping an eye out for icy and slippery conditions can prevent loss of footing and unexpected falls.

Fall Prevention Tips:

Walk slowly with firm and short steps

Always use railings or walking aids when available (especially when taking the stairs)

Be sure to walk in well lit areas

Strengthen your core- A strong core directly relates to an increase in balance

If you do happen to fall, protect your head as to avoid contact with the surface

Back Pack Safety

Back Pack Safety Checklist
In 2013 alone, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission cited 5,415 backpack related injuries treated at emergency rooms. Doctors of chiropractic (DC’s) point to the dangers of heavy backpacks, resulting in injuries ranging from acute and chronic back pain to other painful conditions.
The American Chiropractic Association (ACA) recommends that parents choose the right backpack (see list below) and then help their children pack them properly, leaving out unnecessary items to ensure they weigh no more than 10 percent of a child’s weight.
ü Is the backpack the correct size for your child?
ü Does the backpack have padded shoulder straps for comfort?
ü Are the shoulder straps adjustable?
ü Does the backpack have a padded back?
ü Does the backpack have compartments to keep contents in place?
